The Deputy Director’s Message
I am pleased to offer you a personal invitation to check out a variety of recreational opportunities available in Ventura County. We have more than twenty parks and golf for all levels, for visitors to enjoy. They each offer their own unique features and attractions. You will find our parks situated along the Pacific Ocean, beside rustic rivers and in the heart of Ventura County. We have primitive campsites in the Ojai Valley and Santa Paula, picturesque day use areas, and modern, full service RV campgrounds-that’s Ventura County Parks!
Ventura County Parks is a Department of the General Services Agency and is charged with the planning, development, maintenance, and operations of various recreation facilities. The Parks Department is funded through revenues received from user fees and state and federal grants. The Department is not supported by local tax dollars. All user fees are retained by the Parks Enterprise Fund for the continued maintenance and enhancement of its recreation facilities. Many recreation facilities are provided by private enterprise, through long term leases managed by the Department.
We hope you will visit one of our recreation facilities and have an enjoyable experience!
If you have requests or comments please feel free to call our Parks Information Center at (805) 654-3951 or contact us by e-mail.
Sincerely,
Colter Chisum, Parks Deputy Director
Ventura County Parks Department
