HSA REMINDS CUSTOMERS TO BEWARE OF SUSPICIOUS CALL, TEXT, AND EMAIL SCAMS!
The Human Services Agency (HSA) is reminding customers to never provide personal information in response to calls, text, or emails. Scammers use these illegal “spoofing” techniques to trick consumers into responding.

What you can do to avoid theft and fraud:
- Keep your Personal Identification Number (PIN) safe. Don’t share with anyone outside your household.
- Change your Personal Identification Number (PIN) regularly
- Check your EBT account regularly for unauthorized charges
- Watch out for suspicious websites and text messages.
- Cover the keypad when you enter your PIN on an POS (point-of-sale) or ATM machine
- Double-check card reading machines:
- Labels on the machine indicating the chip reader does not work.
- The chip reader function does not work and directs you to swipe instead
- The sides of the device shift, lift, or appear bulky which indicates an overlay,
- The POS machine appears unnecessarily worn or does not match other machines at the counter.
