Medi-Cal How to Apply
You can apply for Medi-Cal online at BenefitsCal.com. This is often the quickest and easiest way to apply for most benefits.
Our staff is also available to serve you online, by phone, email, fax, drop-off/mail-in services, and in person.

How to Apply for Medi-Cal
First, use this easy online tool to check your eligibility. When you apply, you will be asked for information about your residency, identity, citizenship, Social Security number, income, and any other health care coverage you may have. Immigration status does not impact eligibility.

Paper Application (drop-off, fax or mail) –
Download an application in English or Spanish or call a Community Service Center to request a paper application, which includes a return postage-paid envelope. Complete the applications and either:
- Drop it off at a Community Service Center, or
- Fax it to 805-658-4530, or
- Mail the completed form to:

Children in families with income up to 266% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) may be eligible for no-cost Medi-Cal insurance. Individuals eligible for Medi-Cal due to other conditions such as blindness, disability, or age may be subject to different income and asset criteria. These figures are current through Sep. 30, 2024.
