Family Justice Center
One of Supervisor Gorell’s most important priorities is bringing a Family Justice Center to Thousand Oaks. A Family Justice Center (FJC) is a community-wide collaboration of public and private agencies co-located in one building to serve victims of family violence, sexual assault, and elder abuse. It is a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service center model that is proven to provide better, more trauma informed care while helping end the cycle of violence in families. If we are successful, the Thousand Oaks-based FJC will also serve as a Resiliency Center for victims of mass violence, like The Borderline shooting. So far, community partners who have publicly expressed support for a Family Justice Center in Thousand Oaks include:
- Drew Powers, City Manager of Thousand Oaks
- Rick Schroeder, President of Many Mansions
- Chief Tim Hagel, Safe Passage Youth
- Andrea Gallagher, President of Senior Concerns
- Imam Muhammad Mehtar, Islamic Center of Conejo Valley
- Rabbi Yitzchak Sapochkinsky, Chabad of Westlake Village
- Leanne Porzel, Executive Director of Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank
