Air Pollution Control District’s Citizen Advisory Committee
The Air Pollution Control Board (APCB) consists of the 5 County Board of Supervisors and 5 City Council members representing various cities within Ventura County. The Ventura County City Selection Committee appoints the 5 City Council members when necessary. The APCB establishes policy, approves new rules, appoints the District Hearing Board, Advisory Committee, Clean Air Fund Advisory Committee and the Air Pollution Control Officer who is charged with the authority to direct the Air Pollution Control District (APCD) staff and recommend APCD policies. The mission of the Behavioral Health Advisory Board (BHAB) is to advocate for members of the community living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders and their families. Emergency Medical Service Advisory Committee
The advisory panel evaluates the performance of the ambulance contractor, at least every 2 years, to determine whether response time performance has met or exceeded the minimum requirements in the agreement; and performance has met or exceeded the minimum requirements of the VC EMS Continuous Quality Improvement process. The Council will convene to evaluate the delivery of healthcare services for underserved populations, including allocation of resources and personnel practices, and recommend strategies for improvement where gaps are identified. HIV/AIDS Advisory Committee
The purpose of the HIV/AIDS Advisory Committee is to bring together all segments of the community to advise the Board of Supervisors on the current and future impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to make recommendations to effectively respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Major areas to be addressed: policy planning and fiscal impact, legal and ethical issues, legislative advocacy, education and prevention, medical care and supportive services, testing and prevention services and epidemiology. Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is appointed by the Board of Supervisors to take actions and make recommendations regarding land use and planning matters. The Commission conducts public hearings, considers the proposals and the information provided by the Planning Division staff, applicants and members of the public, and reviews the recommendations of staff. Depending on the issue, the Planning Commission either makes a decision to grant or deny the permit application, or make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors as to the action the Commission feels is most appropriate. Ventura County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council
The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, a division of the County of Ventura’s Human Services Agency, is charged with the responsibility of promoting the development and implementation of a comprehensive coordinated system of care that enables older individuals, children and adults with disabilities, and their caregivers to live in a community-based setting. The VCAAA advocates for the needs of those 60 years of age and older in the county, providing leadership and promoting citizen involvement in the planning process as well as in the delivery of services.
