There are 58 counties in the State of California, each with their own distinctive seal. Over the years counties update their official seals. Many select a single landscape image they find to be emblematic of their county, for example:
On October 12, 2021, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors approved moving forward with considering an update of Ventura County’s seal. A community survey seeking community input on proposed designs (pictured below) was launched on April 15, 2022 and was closed on May 17, 2022. The survey also allowed for community members to upload their own designs.
