Welcome to the Code Compliance Division

The County of Ventura has adopted Code Compliance laws and regulations specifically designed to address blight, nuisances, and to maintain a clean environment for all citizens in our community.

The mission of the Code Compliance Division is to promote and maintain a safe and desirable living and working environment. We help maintain and improve the quality of our community by administering a fair and unbiased an enforcement program to correct Zoning, Building and land use code requirements.

There are two sections within Code Compliance Division- Code Compliance Services and Weights and Measures.

Code Compliance Services responds to complaints from concerned citizens in our community that are specifically related to:

• Illegal Dwellings
  
• Trimming/Removal of Protected Trees
  
• Open storage
  
• Unpermitted Buildings or Construction
  
• Fences and Walls
  
• Illegal Businesses
  
• Keeping Excessive Numbers of Pet or Farm Animals
  
• Illegal Signs
  
• Substandard Housing

Weights and Measures is mandated by state law to protect the interests of the buyer and seller to ensure honesty and integrity of everyday business transactions. This protection is accomplished through the enforcement of the laws of the State of California and various federal statutes.
